ORLÉANS- The Miracle League of Ottawa will be receiving financial support to improve their new baseball facility at Notre-Dame-des-Champs Park. The grant will help to increase physical recreation opportunities for special needs children and youth from Ottawa and surrounding areas. Today’s announcement is possible due to a grant of $150,000 in funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). MPP for Ottawa-Orléans, Marie-France Lalonde joined an OTF representative and local City councillors in congratulating the Miracle League of Ottawa team for their hard work.
“It is a privilege to be the MPP for a riding such as Ottawa-Orléans where a group of thoughtful and committed citizens such as the Desrochers family took initiative to improve the community we live in. The grant of $150, 000 is well-deserved and I look forward to the opening of this great accessible baseball facility for special needs children and youth from our community and the City of Ottawa”
- Marie-France Lalonde, MPP for Ottawa-Orléans.
“I am very pleased with the recent support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation that will be a valuable addition to the new baseball surface that will benefit special-needs youth, young adults and adults who want to engage in sports in the Ottawa community and beyond.”
- David Gourlay, the President of Miracle League of Ottawa
“The funds will be used to help make the surface of the ball diamond safe for children and adults to play. It will enable those who normally cannot play on a regular field, now be able to play baseball. This funding has made it possible for us to reach our goal of $1.6 M. Thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation and all of our sponsors for helping to make this dream of a young boy, Bryce come true”
- Len Goddard, Board Chairman, Miracle League of Ottawa
