Orléans – MPP Marie-France Lalonde has been appointed as the new Chief Government Whip and becomes the first woman from Ottawa to become the Chief Government Whip.
“I am honored and humbled to become the new Chief Government Whip. It is a great privilege to be appointed by Premier Kathleen Wynne to this new position and I look forward to my new role as I help our team work for the people of Ontario and deliver on critical issues such as transportation infrastructure renewals and upgrades,” remarked MPP Lalonde.
Marie-France Lalonde was first elected in June 2014 and was appointed Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure and the Minister for Francophone Affairs. She will be continuing both roles as well as becoming the Chief Government Whip.
MPP Lalonde introduced a Private Member’s Bill earlier this year that would eliminate harmful microbeads from cosmetic products. This bill received all party support on first passage and went to committee for public hearings just before the session ended in early June.
“I am looking forward to my new role which will help me to continue working hard for my constituents in Ottawa-Orléans and the people of Ontario.”
