Helping More Kids Stay Healthy and Active After School

Ontario Expanding Sport and Recreation Opportunities for Children and Youth

Ontario is expanding its after school programs to help more kids stay healthy and active.

An additional 650 children and youth will have access to Ontario's After School Program this year at 436 sites across the province. In total, over 20,000 kids will be given the opportunity to get involved in programs that promote sport, active living and healthy lifestyles.

The programs, such as sports, arts and crafts, nutrition, personal health and wellness education programs, are located in schools, community centers or First Nation communities and delivered by non-profit organizations.

Providing more opportunities for kids to stay healthy and active after school is part of the Ontario government's efforts to create strong, vibrant and prosperous communities and help people with their everyday lives.
